About Joe

Joe was introduced to Stoicism while exploring various philosophies of life. Shortly after attending a meeting with the Philadelphia Stoics, Joe decided to dig deeper into the writings of ancient Stoics like Marcus Aurelius and Epictetus as well as the writings of modern Stoics Massimo Pugliucci and Donald Robertson. This exploration resulted in a life-changing experience as he discovered that Stoic philosophy held the keys to living a happy and fulfilling life. Over the next year, Joe and the Philadelphia Stoics went through “The Handbook for New Stoics,” where over a 52 week period, they implemented various Stoic exercises that have enabled him to pursue the things most meaningful in life.

Over the past 3 years, Joe has been leading discussions on various Stoic topics related to character, friendship, mindfulness, and virtue. In the process of leading these discussions, Joe has met a number of individuals striving to improve their lives as well as the lives of the people around them. These experiences have inspired Joe to become actively involved in helping to establish the Philadelphia Stoa, a community that is dedicated to helping individuals live happier and more meaningful lives. Joe is currently assisting in establishing a formal curriculum for the Philadelphia Stoa in addition to organizing monthly meetings. Additionally, Joe also serves as Treasurer and as a project manager for new Philadelphia Stoa initiatives.

Joe obtained a degree in economics from Temple University and has consulted for fortune 500 companies and various government agencies. Joe currently works for the Department of Defense and resides in Haddonfield, New Jersey.
